My job is to take pictures. It's a dream job. Not only do I get to meet interesting people, often I am invited into their homes, which is a very private thing, and a unique way to get to know a person.

I appreciate design, I appreciate new points of view, and I know how lucky I am that I'm given the opportunity to do what I do. I also know that the world you see in the pages of magazines isn't always the world we actually live in.Representation isn’t important for its own sake, its important because it validates who we are. When my kids look at the world around them, I want them to be able to recognize themselves in the faces they see

Like all of my work, Corner & Compass is about celebrating great design and interesting personalities; it's about showing off the world we all share.

About the Photographer.

David A. Land is a New York-based photographer and director. A native of California, he studied at the Art Center College of Design, earning a degree in photography in 1996. David's personal passion for design and architecture inform his careful compositions and unique ability to capture a strong sense of place.

His portraiture reflects his natural interest in his subjects - whether they're real people or models - and their environments. David lives in Brooklyn with his husband and his very favorite subjects, their sons Simon & Xavier.
